Women regulars in GWS: Why do you come back here?

Question

I am honestly curious. We know this is not a debate forum, we know this is not really a forum to change the world..so why we come back?

It is because of the past? The jerks that hurt you? And being this place full of jerks...it is a way of confronting them?....Just speculating just curious.

I am asking myself the same question, therefore I ask all of you out there

Its a good question FH.  One I do ask myself.  And the answer....habit.  Time wasting.  But I have found myself in politics and philosophy more and more.....

really flying-horse? this is a slanted and quite silly question... what relevance should a women's background be given in a forum discussing women's lib, and for the most part, gender evolution?

this doesn't sound like the flying-horse I am used to... does anyone else smell troll?

edit... sorry for the brashness, as I too wonder why I frequent, just didn't think you were one to exclude the man folk like that... but I'm also no stranger of hot-headedness (that's prob not a word, but I'll run with it)

Naw. I'm just bored and enjoy discussing and debating things, answering people's questions, giving opinions. I started out pretty active in the animation section, but the same questions kept getting asked over and over again. So I went where my interests led me. Sociology and here. I dip my toe into the health section sometimes too.

But there are some genuinely interesting questions and responses, you just have to get through the crappy ones to find them.

Also, this forum wasn't made for jerks. It was made for people interested in or curious about gender issues. Sure, jerks high-jack it on occasion, but that doesn't mean we should give up and not post/respond. :)

I come back because arguing about political/social issues is my favourite hobby, and I hope to make it my career.

I usually come back for the regulars.  The people (or avatars, really) that you know and either agree or disagree with.  Sometimes the arguments get recycled, and that gets boring, but every now and again another poster comes up with a unique way to ask a question and I enjoy a unique way to respond.  Or sometimes I just like to debate.

Though there are times I wish I could stay away--I see such ignorant, horrific responses made towards both women and men that it almost makes you wonder if the outside world (of G&WS) actually hold these views.

Honestly, though, G&WS has made me more aware of issues I might not have thought of before.  Its always interesting to see other sides of an argument and to take others opinion into consideration.  Despite the trolls (which this section would be so much better without), there is actually some things that can be learned from the debates, questions, and responses.

Sometimes I come and there are good questions being asked and sometimes I see that it is about being hateful and mean.  If it is the latter I leave.  If I find myself becoming too angry and answering with anger, I leave.  I may check in and only answer one or two questions, or I may answer several.  

I go to several areas on YA and really, it's no more awful here than say Politics or Religious Studies.  I spend time doing a lot of answers in Mental Health and Family and Relationships.  

Some times, I actually do other things, lol.

It's a good amusement when I want to take a few minutes off studying and just stay at my desk and have a look.  Sometimes answering some idiot back just feels like fun, helps to vent off the days stressing over work and what not :-).  And of course, sometimes the questions are really interesting and it's nice to be able to give a proper answer or the good members on here can help me out with a question.  I also really like some of the folk on here and like to see their answers to questions........

It would be better if the morons left though.........another reason I come is because I am actually interested in women's studies and am not here just to p**s people off cos i have some kind of inferiority complex.......you gotta make your presence felt and try to make this board actually be what it is about. Or else the trolls would win :-O

I'm new and not yet a regular but it is funny to read all the terrible woman hating questions and answers here and invent lives for these sad people. No males in my family are woman haters so I wonder what went wrong in the lives of these guys so that they feel the need to come here and hate women.

I just get sick of people saying that feminists hate men. The definition of feminism is "promoting equal rights", not "being a butch L*****n who wants to shoot men with a machine gun."

Well like most reg's I stumbled in looking for some real discussions debate etc.

Then I got ticked as heck and came back time after time, trying to change some minds

Then I figured out, there are just to many idiot trolls and you just cant teach those who dont want to learn or listen.

Along the way I made some friends, so I stay to talk with them.
