Women singles and doubles shuttlers keep Indian hopes alive in All England Open
India still has its stakes in the All England Open as its singles shuttler Saina Nehwal and the pair Jwala Gutta- Ashwini Ponnappa managed to keep the hopes alive in women’s singles and doubles categories of the event on March 7, 2012.
Despite the fact that most of  the Indian male and female shuttlers failed in first round matches, the  World Number four female singles shuttler Saina Nehwal and women’s double team Jwala- Ashwini gave the country something to cheer about.
The female duo Jwala Gutta- Ashwini Ponnappa reserved their rights to be in the second round by thrashing their Indonesian opponents Anneke Feinya- Nitya Krishinda while the biggest Indian hope for crown Saina Nehwal surpassed her Thai challenger Sapsiree
Taerattanachai in women’s singles event.
The only Indian female survivor duo Jwala-Ashwini claimed straight-set victory over its Indonesian rivals by ticking the final score 21-16 and 21-16 on the board. There was not much trouble for the Indian ladies and they eased into next round.
The story was different in Saina Nehwal’s match as she had to go all the way through three sets to seal the victory over Thai player Sapsiree Taerattanachai with scoreboard flashing final figures of 21-11, 13-21 and 21-13.
Meanwhile, Indian singles shuttlers Parupalli Kashyap, Ajay Jayaram and the duo Rupesh Kumar- Sanave Thomas were kicked out of men’s singles and doubles events while female singles contender P.V. Sindhu and mixed doubles team Diju V- Jwala Gutta also failed
to continue their good run in the event.
However, the badminton ace P. Kashyap and the Indian girl P.V.Sindhu earned a great deal of admiration as both players registered their presence by putting great resistance in their individual matches.
Now the Indian female singles expert Saina Nehwal stands fair chance of taking the country into finals as she will be up against the players who are relatively low ranked as compare to her but first she needs to surpass French lady Hongyan Pi in the pre
quarter-finals.
On the other hand, the female duo Jwala Gutta- Ashwini Ponnappa is subjected to a tough trial in second round as they will test their skills against World Number two Chinese pair Qing Tian- Yunlei Zhao to secure their spot in the quarter-finals.
