Question:

Women with CZ wedding rings ONLY!?

I just lost my wedding ring on Monday and thankfully had insurance on it. I had an expensive real diamond ring...but to tell you the truth it was ugly. We are getting our cash back for me to get another one and I have to tell you it kills me to buy another EXPENSIVE ring. I am opting for a Cubic Z because I would rather use my money on something else.

I drive a nice car and live in a nice house and I think if i told no one...no one would know it was fake. They expect me to have a real one.....

My question is I want to talk to a women who have a CZ to ask her if she has ever gotten anyone who has asked her if it was fake or how soon it lost its "luster" and if she had to buy another ring would she go for a fake one again or a real one?

  1. I think its a good idea to use the money elsewhere and not buy a new diamond. But, why buy a CZ that is obviously going to look fake? Mainly because 1. the clarity 2. the size 3. the cut.... they are just too perfect!!!! Same goes with Simulant diamonds....obviously, your "trying to hard".....I like the suggestion of a different stone...how about something "classly" "exotic" that would stand out.....try a tanzanite....spesertite (sp?) garnet.....  or if you have to have a "diamond" look try what was popular int the 70s....a YAG ie, a form of garnet which looks just like a diamond or prehaps, a white sapphaire, or danburite.....

    hope that helps

  2. I don't think this idea is shallow or materialistic at all, in fact i think its a pretty smart idea.

As long as your happy with your marrige, then who cares if you have a real one, fake ones look just as real anyways. Unless your friends are diamond experts they wont ever find out.

I often buy CZ rings, and it all depends on your everyday activies weather or not the ring will loose its luster.

Once you buy the ring, when you shower or wash your hands etc take the ring off. Or when applying any creams, cooking, cleaning etc. All these things affect the luster of the ring.

I always buy the same ring, so i keep repacing it..nobody ever questioned wether it was fake, they always compliment me on it.

  3. I do not have a CZ ring now.  But for about 5 months after I became engaged, I wore my engagement ring with a CZ in it, while waiting for some stock to mature!  I have an elaborate antique style platinum setting, so it probably takes away from the stone, but no one ever said anything.

I did tell a couple friends about the CZ.  But I always felt a bit uncomfortable with it as a CZ.  Like I was a faker.  On the other hand, I've been married for 8 years now and I don't even notice my ring hardly anymore!  It's just part of me.  So do whatever you think both you and your husband will be comfortable with.

  4. The stones themselves will keep the same lustre, the only thing is to make sure your ring band is real gold/white gold etc. I have a few CZ rings and they have stayed beautiful for 10+ years, though the bands are sometimes a cheap silver or fake gold which turns dull after a few years and professional cleaners etc can't help. I think it's a good decision to make, buy what makes you happy!

  5. Mine is a dress ring, not a wedding ring, but it totally lost its sparkle.

In your case, the insurance was to 'replace' the ring you lost, so you should be getting a diamond, not pocketing the extra.

  6. I have a real and fake diamond (CZ) ring. I got my cz ring from http://www.glamforless.com/cz-ring.html and love it.

  7. Go for it...

Save your money for what you really want.

  8. I have a CZ and not one person has even questioned if it was real, so I just never said anything at the beginning and now I never will.

However there are different kinds of CZ.  Make sure you buy a lab diamond vs natural diamond.  Look same, same cut and facets, cuts glass like real diamond, just made by man in a laboratory rather than Mother Nature!

  9. why not get a CZ ring they look the same...

and the extra money you and your other half could go out on a date to celebrate the new ring...

    good luck..

  10. I would get a cz. I have a caret ring and I wear a ring i got at indiana beach for 40. lol I love it it is so much more conformable... why not get a really nice thick style band.. and not wear a diamond. they are sooo fragel at times. you know?

  11. Zsa Zsa Gabor once said in an interview (she had just got engaged again) ' I could have bought a little gem with the $200,000 that looked okay but my CZ looks better & bigger'.

Good CZs look & feel like diamonds, so go for it.

Also someone said they were glass they are NOT, they are made from the same coal that real diamonds are made from. It is just the are made in a compression machine & not in the ground for millions of years. By buying a CZ you are actually doing your bit for the environment has they have to dig acres of land to find 1 diamond.

  12. I think this is very shallow and materialistic of you.

Why don't you opt for a nice colored stone instead of pretending you're something you're not?  You're perfectly reasonable not to want to spend money on a huge diamond.  But you lose all sense when you try to trick people into thinking you did.

EDIT:  You're not shallow because you want a CZ.  You're shallow because you intent to trick people.  You care less about the meaning of the ring and more about what your materialistic friends will think.

EDIT 2:  A direct quote from you, "No one would know it was fake.  They expect me to have a real one."  That implies trickery.  Do whatever you want--but I think it'd be more reasonable to buy a smaller diamond or a colored stone rather than trying to trick everyone into thinking you have a diamond.  It really speaks to your character.

EDIT 3:  This seems to be a pattern with you.  You keep asking this question:

    EDIT 4:  I win.

  13. I don't have a CZ ring, but many women come on this site and ask about them.  From reading other questions/answers apparently they do loose their luster and sparkle (because I think they are basically glass).  BUT, you save so much money on them, you could probably buy a new CZ ring every year/every other year for like 10 years before it would equal near the cost of a real diamond one (depending on the style).

Why not get a simpler band/style of wedding ring with a real diamond and then you won't have to replace it because it will stay gorgeous and sparkling, but you won't have to spend so much money on it?

    Just a suggestion.  Good Luck!

  14. a friend of mine has a Moissanite. She did not want a diamond because of her work however wanted something hard which CZ is not and keeps its sparkle. SHe never told anyone ( but me) it is not diamond so she is not lying. She says if it is ruin or lost due to her job she will be mad for sentimental reasons however not for being broke . She told her husband before they got engaged that she wanted Moissanite .

  15. My is and no one has question it. Its just a ring. who cares.

  16. I have a couple right hand rings & a 2 carat single CZ pendant from this company.  No one would EVER suspect they aren't real.  If your CZ is from a reputable company it won't lose it's luster.

I'd like to try this company.

Tell you a trick.  When the ring gets dirty, place it in a pill bottle with plain ol' rubbing alcohol.  Give it a few shakes, then let it sit.  The dirt will sink to the bottom of the bottle.  Carefully take out the ring, rinse with cool water & watch it shine!

  17. I had a CZ a long time ago. No one could tell. But after about a year and-a-half it started to get a little dull. I could have easily bought the same one again, though - it was so inexpensive.

This time I opted for a colored stone because I don't want anyone to think I support the diamond industry (I hate it THAT much).
