can anyone who suffers/ suffered from pcos tell me if the symptoms and cysts improved after getting pregnant and having a baby?

if you have had more than 1 child, was it easier getting pregnant with the 2nd, 3rd?

also, did your periods become more regular?

please share your experiences...thanks.

  1. For me, yes the symptoms have improved after having kids.  I have 3 children.  My first live birth was spontaneous and happened when i was dieting and exercising.  I had an ectopic before this.  After my oldest I had several miscarriages and went to a RE for 3 years to get our second son.  Before him I also was hospitalized for ruptured cysts and almost had an appendectomy.  My periods have stopped all together for several years and I am not even 40.  My third was also spontaneous.  I did not have a period between giving birth to my second and falling pregnant.  My youngest two are 13 months apart.

  2. I had/have pcos and endometriosis and was told that getting pregnant would be very difficult and that I would more than likely need the aid of fertility drugs.

I had very irregular cycles, even with birth control. I would have a period every blue moon.

First pregnancy was completely unexpected, as I was on the pill and was not trying. During pregnancy, I had no symptoms of pcos at all. It was so nice! I nursed after pregnancy and still had no symptoms. After I finished nursing with my first child, (17 months) the irregularity wasn't so bad, it actually had cleared itself up.

PCOS was still there, and if I was on my feet too much, it was painful. (I've had 2 cysts rupture that ended in a trip to the ER b/c they thought I had appendicitis. These were before pregnancy.)

Second child, I again, was not trying and was on BC (I had just switched though, because different pills made the pcos and endometriosis unbearable and worse) So I really can't tell you if it was easier to get pregnant with my second, because I wasn't trying with either. My second is still nursing, as she is only 4 months old and I am not having any pain.

Hoping that the pcos is going to get better in the long run... but I have seen my ovaries on the ultra sound and they look like swiss cheese.... :(  hoping they will be normal one day.
