Women’s 4 Nations Tournament: Germany dominate Australia 2-1 – Women’s Hockey Update
The German Women’s hockey team has overpowered the Australians with a 2-1 goal score in the second round of the Four Nations Women’s Hockey Tournament in Rosario, Argentina. It was a pleasant and comfortable win for Germany after last day’s 3-0 victory over
the US Women.
The complete match was being controlled by the Germans, as they controlled the ball. The Australians felt conquered and disappointed as Germany secured their first goal shot by Eileen Hoffmann. Germany was attacking quite aggressively, making it almost impossible
for the Hockeyroos to match up the opponents lead. However, by the time the first half was finished, Australia was awarded a short corner goal. It was skilfully availed by the talented Ashleigh Nelson to level the score.
The second half was all the more nerve wrecking for each team going head-to-head to break the tie into a triumph. Germany was found very powerful in the ground, denying the Australian attacks and countering time after time over the Australian post. Later,
the Germans stand out player, Eileen Hoffmann slotted the day’s second goal conferring her team a lead with 2-1. She moreover managed the pace of the match to confine Australia from scoring a goal, ending the match with a victory for them.
After the Australian team was defeated, the team’s head coach, Adam Commens was worried. He plans to train the team for improvements until the next match against the US on February 20 that will be held in the third round of the 4 Nations event. Commens committed
the bitter fact that the team must win their next match to make it to the finals of the Rosario 4 Nations Women Hockey Tournament.
It would be a great torment if Australia fails to qualify for the tournament’s final, after such a successive and enchanting record until now in both tournaments held in Argentina.
On the other side, the World number one Argentina has defeated USA and most expectedly deserves to qualify to the tournament’s final after a predictable defeat to Germany.
