Women’s Home Internationals begin on September 4
The most anticipated domestic tournament on English golf calendar is here. The Women’s Home Internationals is just around the corner.
The golf fans eagerly wait for this tournament because of its unique format and standing in the women’s golf structure. The tournament attracts top domestic talent and the players show off their golf skills to gain points. These points eventually lead the
best talent to playing in the national teams.
The Women’s Home Internationals is played between England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. These four places are well known for their love of golf and the excellent golf courses that form the basis of the golf traditions of these places.
The tournament is an excellent opportunity for young female golfers to gain valuable experience of playing in conditions very similar to international events. Each of the four places sends only the best golfers to represent them.
The level of competition is intense during the entire duration of the event. There are single and team matches that thoroughly tax the players’ abilities to the maximum. This is why the winning team receives top level appreciation and a number of benefits.
This year, the event will start on September 4. The final round will be played on the 6th. Usually, the venue rotates among the four places. The tournament is played on the finest golf course of the selected place.
This year the host of the event is Ireland. The venue is the Cork Golf Club. This historic golf course was initially built in 1888. The course underwent a redesign in 1927.
This redesign was carried out by Alister Mackenzie, who brought immense elegance to the golf course.
Each place will be represented by a team of eight players, who will play team matches against each other. The draws have been announced and the competition tree looks great for some exciting golf.
The first two days are dedicated to practice sessions. These sessions are very important because they are the only chance of getting to know the golf course on the 4th of September, the first round will start in a round robin manner.
The format for this day is Wales v Scotland & Ireland v England. This will be repeated over the next two days where the foursomes and single matches will also be played.
