From Sri Lanka, Siriwardene was the only player who made a noticeable contribution of 22.
Edwards continued her brilliant performance when she returned to open the batting for England. She scored an unbeatable 48 runs off 50 balls which included 3 boundaries.
She was perfectly supported by Laura Marsh who also hit three boundaries but got struck by Deepika Rasangika with 29 runs. Marsh and Edwards shared a fantastic opening stand of 73 runs.
By the time Sri Lankan bowlers got comfortable with the English players, Edwards had done enough damage and the visitors reached the target for the loss of only two wickets and more than 4 overs to spare.
England’s captain Edwards admitted that they had played their best cricket so far and was really pleased with the team efforts in every department.
"It was great for Laura and I to get our innings off to a good start and set up the run chase. We are looking forward to carrying this performance forward to the second Twenty20 on Sunday."
She also celebrated her honour of becoming the “Most Capped Female Cricketer” in the world as she appeared in her 142nd One Day International.
England also gave a chance to Beth MasGregor and Susie http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wilson-c98046 also made her bow in the shortest form of the game, having previously played in the two one-day internationals.
