Women’s meets to kick-off event at the Samsung Diamond League Herculis Meeting 2011 – Athletics news
For the Samsung Diamond League Herculis Meeting 2011, the organisers of the event have depicted a high acumen of work and have planned out the entire two-day tournament in a manner, which is certainly set to attract attention of spectators.
To compel people to give the required response right from the start of the athletics gala, women’s events like Discus Throw and Long Jump, along with Shot Put and Pole Vault competition of men athletes will be contested on day one of the meet.
The athletes to vouch for the viewers’ attention at these events are Yarelis Barrios and Nadine Muller from Germany. Barrios, the 28-year-old Cuban discus thrower has had the privilege of winning two silver medals at the World Championships events. The experienced
thrower, who just missed the world leading position about three weeks ago when she could not emerge at Lausanne, will try to make up for her world leading position by defeating Muller, her German rival.
Muller, the 25-year-old thrower, on the other hand, has just observed her success in Birmingham about two weeks ago. Amid the form and fitness she is recently enjoying, it is very likely of her to give Barrios tough time in Monaco.
The field also will also include Australian stars like Dani Samuels, the reigning world champion and her American counterpart, Stephanie Brown-Trafton, who is the victor of the New York event and a USA Olympian.
On the men’s side, the long jump battle will take place between some of the field dominators like Brittney Reese, the SDL champion of last year along with Russia’s Darya Klishina and American counterpart, Janay DeLoach.
Athletes as well as spectators who understand the sport well are aware of the fact that the short events, where the players have to toil hard for emerging against each other, will be the best of all meets. The organizers at Monaco have certainly thought
of an interesting plan to keep the interest of viewers alive until the two day event is over.
