Women’s wildcards to reach Grand Slam semis?

In reaching the final four at the 2010 Australian Open, Justine Henin became just the third wildcard to reach the semi-finals of a Grand Slam. Kim Clijsters, of course, was the second and she went all the way to the title at the 2009 US Open. The first was Jie Zheng, who reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon as a wildcard in 2008. Interestingly, Henin will now face Zheng in the semi-finals at Melbourne Park.
