At our local grocery stores they used to let us sell cars and other things in their parking lots, now they said something about the city, or state not allowing them to.... does anybody know why? or do they do that in your city too?

  1. Most cities have ordinances in city limits against this.

  2. It might just be that the car dealers in your town have a good lobby.  Most property owners do not prefer to have that on their property, but if there's an ordinance, somebody asked for it.  All laws are that way - they are put on the books to deal with something that somebody complained about.  You can bet on it.

  3. They probably just got tired of people hanging around who weren't customers and are using that as an excuse.

  4. It's private property. They don't have to let you use it as a used-car lot. There may also be a city ordinance regarding the display of vehicles for sale. Yes, they have all kinds of laws like that where I live.
