Won $700 on 25 cent machine in Atlantic City?

My brother just called me sounding excited because he just won $700 in Atlantic City from one 25 cent machine. What kind of jackpot did he hit to win so much from a quarter machine? BTW he said he bet the maximum amount of coins in one shot.

Machines with 2800 unit (or more) jackpots are pretty common. Many quarter machines will have jackpots that are much more than that as well. Heck, I won the jackpot on a penny machine that was 10,000 credits ($100, woo hoo!).

Congrats that he won, but it's not all that uncommon. The Millioniser penny machine has a $1,000,000 jackpot, maybe he should play that next time :P

No big deal - $700 on a 25 cent slot makes 2800 credits - even with hitting 5 top picutres (i assume this was a video slot?) he would have more than that (some 10.000-100.000 credits with max bet - which makes about $2500 or more).

However, max bet on a 25 cent machine is quite expensive. Lets say it's a 9 line machine with max credit bet of 5: 9x5=45 - 45 * $0,25 = $11,25 for one spin!

It was probably a progressive slot.  I haven't been to a casino in about 20 years, but I remember lots of progressive slots where the amount you can win keeps going up till someone wins it, and some people won millions.

There are all kinds of machine that pay that out.  Some quarter machines take two at a time.  Some can take several per spin.  It depends on the machine.
