Wonder of it All becomes the first career winner for the 2006 Horse of the Year Invasor
The fifth race for Wonder of it All at Ellis Park turned out to be the lucky race for the daughter of 2006 Horse of the Year, Invasor, as he relished the second opportunity provided to him to break his maiden on 5 September, 2011.
The 2-year-old filly battled it out gamely entering into the stretch and stuck her neck out to prevail and win the race by a head, as she was sent the 9 to 5 favourite to become the first career winner for Invasor.
The son of Candy Stripes, out of Quendom by Interprete, Invasor is the third leading Freshman Sire by sales average win with the total of $101,182.
While in his racing career, Invasor was twice Top Rated Horse in the World with the Horse of the Year in 2006 and he also the Eclipse Champion Older Male.
Invasor went on to win six consecutive Grade 1 wins, and his two biggest wins in that era was the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Classic , in which he went on to defeat the highly favoured Bernardini and also with a 116 Beyer.
And the most notable international or domestic win by Invasor was in the Grade 1 Dubai World Cup, where he went on to cover the distance of 10 furlongs in 1 minute and 59 4/5 seconds, which was the fastest ever at Meydan.
On the road to 2006 Breeders’ Cup Classic triumph, Invasor went on to win the Grade 1 Pimlico Special at Pimlico on 19 May, 2006. Afterwards he bagged the Grade 1 Suburban Handicap, and he didn’t stop there as he blasted away in the Grade 1 Whitney Handicap
at Saratoga.
Stellar 2006 earned him the Horse of the Year title without an exception with a lifetime earnings of $7,804,070, with the career stats of 11 wins out of 12 starts.
With 58 2-year-olds in his first crop, Invasor stands for $20,000 at Shadwell Farm in Lexington.
It is expected that the sparkling two-year-old filly, Wonder of it All, will follow the footsteps of her father whose out of Grade 3 placed Darling Daughter, by Maria’s Mon.
