I'm wondering if foxes eat cats, since foxes are part of the cat family wouldn't that be a little weird? If you could answer, thanks!

  1. #1 foxes are in the dog family!  and yes, they could if they were really hunngry and the cat was not very big!

  2. foxes may fight off and chase cats but i doubt they would kill it for food...too hard a kill for them

  3. First, foxes are canines, not felines. Second, cats and foxes will fight over food or territory, but not always. I have friends that have a large cat who is fed outside on the porch. A family of foxes live nearby and come at night to eat the cat's food. They have witnessed (and photographed) the cat standing by while the foxes and their kits eat from the food bowl. It is very cute.

  4. Foxes and coyotes will take a cat. We used to have a fox in my old neighbourhood and there wasn't a cat to found there. Every week or so there would be a sign on the community mailbox from someone looking for their 'lost' cat. The people at the scrapyard down the road informed me that they often saw the fox carrying cats back to its den to feed to the babies.

I now live in a small village in the country and we get free cats from the farmers because we lose at least one cat a month to the coyotes. I hold the record in town for having my cat the longest and she is not a year old yet.

  5. foxes are not part of the cat family they are part of the dog family http://www.wildernessclassroom.com/www/s...

there is a link proving it! and a fox would most defenetly kill a cat, small dog and other small animals

  6. I'm sure they would if they are hungry enough.
