Growing up my mother had this really pretty flower in her garden. I wanted to use it in my bouquet for my wedding, but I have no idea what to tell the florist its called. It was a pretty white and pink flower but the only characteristic of this flower that I can really remember that would seperate it from most other flowers is that it would only bloom after ants would eat the blosom leaves from around the bud. Please help me, I need to know if I can get this flower for my wedding.

  1. It was a Peony.  They are available in a florist shop in April-May.

  2. You might be talking about  peony.

However - although ants are associated with it - they don't actually eat the leaves.

    Does it look like these?

  3. They are Peonies.

  4. It's a peony, heavenly sent, it was an old wives tale that the peony wouldn't open without the ants.

I would check with your local florist to see if they can help.
