Question:

Wondering about audio/video stuff.....?

I was wondering, if I owned a camcorder that didn't have a decent microphone, would it be possible to record audio with some other device (and what would it be?) and then add it in later in the editing process? Would this work, such as be decent quality audio, and match up with the video?

Thanks!

  1. I agree with the previous poster, DAT or MD is a great way to go.

An easy way to get audio sync in post is to get someone to stand in shot and clap their hands once, loudly.

The when you're editing all you have to do is match these up and you're set.

  2. yep...most definitely...the best quality is from DAT recorders and a XLR connection shotgun mic or a MiniDisc recorder with a XLR connection.

If your camera allows it you can also use a XLR microphone and get an adapter for a mini jack and connect it to your camcorder (if it allows it) and change the settings for audio to be for an AUX unit rather than the omnidirectional microphone that most cameras have.

The only hard part is syncing the sound later in editing, which takes a really good eye.
