Wondering about blood pressure medicines?

my doctor said since i had went so many years with out treating high blood pressure he was using two kinds of pills,lisinopril and metoprol,would;t one been enough/ hesaid i had a weak heart muscle from livingwith high pressure but the medicine should help tha.howdoes medicine help a weak heart muscle?

As the above authors have pointed out, your cardiologist has obviously done testing which confirms that your heart has undergone structural chances which are the likely consequence of your heart having to work unusually hard to meet the demands of your organs (increased afterload).  The choice of medications your physician has chosen will act to decrease the work the heart muscle has to perform and will hopefully help it remodel and become "healthy" again.

u r taking 2 medicine lisinopril and metoprolol(metoprol).both r fr lowering blood pressure.lisinopril is ace inhibitor relatated to kidney and also require fr blood regulation,while metoprolol is a beta blocker present on heart and kidney.metoprolol alows ur heart to realex this is neceesery because ur hear muscels r weak and they need reast,and there by it lower blood pressure also

The medicines he prescribed protect your heart by decreasing the workload.  Think of your heart as an engine.  It's been running hard for years, even when you've been resting.  The medicines will help "throttle down" your heart to a nice "idle".

For more info, do some research on metoprolol (or beta-blockers) and lisinopril (or ACE inhibitors).
