first,it was a great match& congratulations for Nadal's fans

I'm wondering that in the first set when Roger was dominating the match Nadal had some injury then it disappeared in the rest of the match

the same thing happened in Roland Garros final 2006 when Roger won the first set 6-1

so what do u think about this.......!!!!!!

  1. Rafa played amazing tennis to win that match and all credit is deserved to him. Im sooo happy the hamburg title is his :) I knew someone would ask a question like this or similar to yours...however Nadal would never ever use a ``injury`` as an exscuse, he is an honest player and can accept defeat. Maybe he isnt ``injured`` so to speak (and thank god for that) However i do believe with all my heart lol His muscle in his thigh was tightening up, and therefore needed a massage from his trainer to shake things off help loosen it up. Seriously Nadal would never fake anything like this he just wouldnt whether you believe that or not is your call. Rafa knows he needs to play 100% against Roger to win the match, he had a long semi final with Novak and so his muscles were a little sore and stiff. Roger on the other hand was off court in about an hour in his semi final match. Rafa would never FAKE anything like this just to distract Roger`s attention, Roger even knows that aswell. Pfft you and this question is sooo annoying accussing him of this wait to see all the Roger fans jumping in saying there man was ``robbed`` that title through Rafa`s cheating !!! Im shocked!!!! Anyway Vamos Rafa he deserved to win !!!! x*x

  2. i would think it was a load of bull but I just heard the announcer say that he called an injury break when Federer had set point. I had stepped away for a moment so I didn't know this when I came back and saw Nadal getting a massage. Who knows- if ur dirty it will eventually come back to you. I don't remember the 2006 final but the tennis channel is playing this tonight as a classic tennis match at 7pm EST so I'm making sure I don't miss it !!!

*EDIT* ok well I just watched the 2006 French final and I didn't see any injury timeouts. I only saw Nadal take a timeout to have some of the tape unwrapped from his foot because it was maybe cutting off his circulation. And this was when he was winning 3-0 in the second or third set. So sorry I do not see your point in comparing things to this match.

  3. No,you are a bit mistaken,I think. I can remember Nadal taking a break when it did not favour him because he took it when he was winning and his breaks gave Federer a chance to get it together again and come back and win.

I think these two players take breaks when they need to.

  4. It was rude no doubt about that, but it shouldn't of botthered Federer.

  5. I'm questioning the same thing. Roger needs to not feel sorry for the guy and freaking keep playing agressive. As soon as that happens, Roger starts playing nice as if he doesn't want to aggrevate Nadal's injury.  It's total bull I am really pissed about that.

Yes, yes, Nadal played great, no one is taking that away from him, but come'on. Going from saying he's got some serious injury right at a critical point, acting like he might have to forfeit the whole game, possible retiring (I watched it on German broadcast so I heard all the background comments). That's so lame.

  6. What I remember extremely well is how Rafa Nadal took time out in his second Wimbledon Final when he was actually winning and Federer was losing it totally....losing his cool and very hot and flustered. But Rafa needed some kind of attention and was in pain so he took time out and that gave Fed  the breather he needed to get his act together again. And I certainly don't remember Fed fans complaining about Rafa's taking an injury break then!!!

C'mon you guys. These athletes have to take breaks sometimes and sometimes it helps them and sometimes it actually harms them (like Rafa at Wimbledon final 2). Players of Fed's and Nadal's calibre don't need to fake these things.

  7. in the french open 2006, i don't think nadal took injury timeout after roger won the first set, but i have to check my video because i taped the whole thing . in monte carlo this year, nadal was behind in the first and the second set, but he came back and won that final in straight sets without taking any injury timeout.  so, i really do not think he was faking.  i just thought he outplayed roger.  but congrats to both because the match was amazing.

  8. nadal is a fake. he is not fooling me. federer is the clear winner of the atp masters series in hamburg.

  9. Oh pleaaase! i know what u are getting to here..-that the injury time-out took away Federer's rhythm..if so, how do u explain MC final when Rafa came from 0-4 to take the set. or the 2nd set of hamburg final when he came frm behind to level things up?

Lets not forget he played a 3hrs 3minutes 3setter match yesterday, and quite honestly the lil injury he had is understandable considering the circumstances. And he didn't quit.

Rafa is close to perfect on clay and he just proved that ALL OVER AGAIN, to some people who can't seem to get it. I mean how do u explain a 2-110 loss-win record??

  10. congratulations rafa!
