I have heard that so many times I want to Explode. I Just wanted a rough number on how many people believe that. In fact and an FYI once you treat you tank for Ick if done correctly the disease is eradicated Forever. Unless of course you introduce a new fish or your old fish have had it the whole time and just never showed symptoms. Thx in advance for your input : )

  1. There are a lot of things regarding Ich that people [unfortunately] believe wholeheartedly.  For example, you have no idea how many times people have said that turning the temperature up to 85* (sometimes less) will kill Ich, and then fail to explain why Discus tanks kept near 90* still become infested at times.  Or how some claim that salt is ineffective agianst Ich, but can't account for why it is the most common treatment for the parasite in aquaculture.  Don't get your hopes up too high if you ask something even half technical on this site, because most of the answers will listen to what About.com has to say like its a religious scripture.

EDIT: That's a new one...  I can't say that, in my almost 15 months here, I have ever heard somebody claim Ich to be airborne...  It is NOT!

EDIT 2: " Its like a human cold its airborne" is the same as splitting it into two sentences: "It's like a human cold.  It's airborne."  In both cases, it would still be Ich.  Say what you mean and mean what you say.

  2. actually the disease is there it will not stike the old fishes due to immune system when the fish is stressed out they you will see these diseases again even with no new fish around or poor water condition could lead this situation.  Its like a human cold its airborne then it will depend on human immune system to block the disease when someone sneezes.

LOL who said that itch is airborne its just an example that fish will be infected with itch if its immune system is low.  Its just like a common cold if your immune system is low when somebody got colds you also will be sick.  I did not say anything about itch is airborne its the cold is airborne maybe could sounds like LOL.

  3. Its not true. I have 20 tanks and only ever had ick once from new fish. Once I got rid of it it has never come back.

  4. its actually theyre little tiny invisible proatazoans. they attack our little fishes if they get stressed and are vulnerable. black mollies when pregnant get it if they keep on getting mated by the male black molly. it can also start to by introducing new fishes and putting petstore fish water in your tank. tip: ick spreads quickly!!!!!!!!!
