Wondering if anyone has ever tried to bring wine on board a Royal Carbean Cruise?

We have been on Carnival and they allow you one bottle per person of wine. I just read on Royal C. that they will not let you bring any at all. Has anyone tried to anyway?

  1. Oh no, why do you want to do that, so cheap, the companies don't like it for sure and they have right to. I don't think they would allow you to bring cases on. One bottle should be ok, put it in your hand luggage not the main cases as they are very rough with them. Sorry but its true and you don't want to have an exploded bottle all over your holiday attire. They are quite strict the security with liquids generally as they are quite rightly paranoid about terrorist attacks!

I would buy as you go along in the ports then you can just say it is a souvenir. The fine wines are so cheap on the ships anyway so I don't see why you would want to do that.

    Enjoy your cruise

  2. My husband's office just came back from a cruise and everyone that tried to bring on wine or liquor in their luggage did not get it on board.  One even put it in a ziplock bag and they found it.

don't even try it...why waste your time.

  3. We have a few times and have never had a problem.  We packed it in our suitcase.

  4. yuea.......dont

  5. Most cruise lines prefer you to spend money on their resources.  So if you feel compelled to bring in your own, do it clandestinely.  Since your luggage is not typically searched, it should be no problem.  Hope that helps..........  For more information visit www.AlmondTreeTravel.net

  6. Welll, liquor is always prohibited, but most cruise lines  -- like many nice restaurants on land -- allow you to bring wine but charge a "corkage" fee to drink it in one of the restaurants.

At least in the past, Royal Caribbean allowed a bottle of wine or Champagne to be brought aboard.  Corkage was, I think, around $25.

FWIW, I'm OK with the corkage fee, in part because I didn't really care for RCI's wine list... we're spoiled California wine snobs! =)

  7. Usually the rule is you can bring one bottle of wine or champaine per person, no problem, but as someone stated, they do charge you for them, you can also bring beer. They do not allow liquor, thats not to say people dont get away with bringing it on board. Enjoyyyy =]

  8. Yes I have done that... I put it into an empty and CLEAN Listerine bottle and they never knew any better!! Works with liquor too!!
