Yeah, I'm going to panama city and I've never been before. I heard that sometimes the water can get all mossy and have tons of algae in it, and I was wondering, does anyone know when that happens. Like what times during the day or something, or does the weather affect it?

  1. Not that I'm aware of.  I live in Panama City, Panama for over a year now and the water is always clear, never smells unpleasant, never tastes off.  I can't speak for the interior, but assuming you are coming to the city you will be fine.

For other types of information about Panama see http://www.panamaexpertos.com/

  2. Dont worry, water is fine.  And if you dont like it you can buy bottled water everywhere.

  3. If you are talking about the Tap water..certainly NOT..Panama Ranks in the five top best waters in the World..Now if you are talking about lakes or rivers, I will have to say depends on where you are...

  4. Excuse me, but you've been misled.  Panama's tap water is considered one of the most safest tap water in the world, and is even sold in other countries as bottled water.

If you're referring to sea water, well depending on the beach then the algae content.  There are more algae in the Caribbean than in the Pacific.

Lakes do have a lot of moss and algae.  The only exceptions are Gatun Lake, Alajuela and Bayano Lake.
