Wong Pei Tty needs good result to qualify for 2012 Olympic Games – Badminton news
Malaysia’s Women’s Doubles elite shuttler, Wong Pei Tty, needs to get good results with her partner, Chin Eei h*i, in the upcoming tournaments in order to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games.
The event of badminton in Olympics will take place at the Wembley Indoor Arena, in London, England, from July 28 to August 5.
The experienced Pei Tty has been playing wonderful badminton throughout her career and has served the country for almost 15 years. Now she is at the verge of retirement and wants to appear in Olympic Games before saying good bye to professional badminton.
Pei Tty and Eei h*i, who are currently World Number 19 in the Women’s Doubles world rankings, were at number 68 in January, 2011. Pei Tty returned from a knee injury but showed her determination and played well throughout the year.
They have jumped 49 positions to reach at number 19 which is a clear evidence of their commitment and dedication with the game. But they have to produce better results in the upcoming events in order to qualify for Olympic Games because only top-16 pairs
will be eligible to participate in the mega event.
Pei Tty is getting better with every passing day and has recovered from her knee injury.
She said, “I’m feeling much stronger and things are finally getting back to normal. I only hope it’s not too late. My dream is to qualify for the Olympics for one last time and we really have to get some good results soon to achieve it.”
She also expressed that if she fails to make the cut, then she will take retirement from professional badminton which indicates that the Olympic Games will be her last tournament.
She said, “I’ll probably call it quits if we fail. I’m not that young anymore so it may be time to look at other options like coaching.”
Pei Tty also appreciated the performance of another young duo of Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei and also said that this pair will have better chance to improve their skills after her retirement.
Now Pei Tty is working hard in training sessions to improve her fitness for achieving good results in the upcoming events.
