Wong Pei Tty says knee injury cannot stop her from performing well at the 2011 World Championships
Despite carrying an old knee injury, Malaysia’s spirited Women’s Doubles shuttler, Wong Pei Tty is determined to play to her full potential at the 2011 World Championships, starting on August 8, at the Wembley Arena in England.
The 29-year-old Wong Pei is confident that her injury would not stand in her way in the mega event and she is confident to play top-class badminton as the meet is expected to be her last World Championship participation. The knee injury forced her to skip the last edition of the mega event, which was held last year in Paris.
Wong Pei along with her partner Chin Eei h*i is determined to put in all efforts to bring glory to their country. The pair has never reached the semi-final in any of their participation at the World Championships. However, this time, the experienced pair is determined to give their maximum in the world meet.
A spirited Wong Pei said, “The pain on my knee is not going to stop me from giving my best. Besides, I am taking all the proper measures to ease the discomfort.”
Wong Pei and Eei h*i have been playing to their full potential in the last three months and surprisingly qualified for the World Championships. While talking about the upcoming event, Wong Pei said, “I had to skip last year’s world meet because of my knee injury, which led me to go for surgery. I am glad to be back. I have been pushing myself hard and I felt the strain recently but I am not slowing down. This may be my last world outing and I want to do well.”
The duo is currently busy in a training camp at the University of Bath in England. The whole national team of Malaysia is attending this training camp, which will help them to get familiar with the conditions in England. Wong Pei and Eei h*i are working hard to perform well at the World Championships, which is the one of the most prestigious titles in the sport.
