Won;t Hibernate

won't hibernate. Brand New, Came with XP pro installed

Power control panel allows standby but Hibernate is not available. Then, on a scratch reboot, Hibernate is available for a while. However, when you hibernate (start, shutdown, Hibernate) it will act like it is hibernating and then pop open and restart. After one try, Hibernate is not available again until you completely power off and restart.

In the Newest Bios, there is no ACPI button of any kind. in fact, very little is configurable. It appears that something running won't let it shut down but I have not found what it is so far.

any ideas to try? thanks dc
