Wonton soup at a chinese restaurant?

Does anybody know if your average take out Chinese restaurant makes their own stock for their wonton soup or do they just get it from a can?

  1. you cant make stock out of wonton soup..you can make stock out of chicken and shrimp...

    the liquid in wonton soup is usually caned chicken stock..or chicken broth..that chinese restaurants buy and are bought in large amounts from places like Costco or other wholesale places..


  2. It's hit and miss. Some will make stock from scratch. Others will use packaged broth and add chicken bones to intensify the flavor.

  3. Just from peeking behind the counter at the chinese takeout it seems like everything they sell comes from huge cans. I would guess the broth is canned too. Especially since it tastes the same at every place.

  4. I would figure they would make their own just to keep costs down.
