How would i go about leveling and squaring a 30X100 flooring system for a building that i want to construct. any advice or site that i can receive some information on the step by step process would be helpful.

  1. Creating Square is a rather simple procedure using the 3-4-5 method of measuring for square.  1) Lay out a line that represents a side of the foundation.  On that line, define a point that represents a corner.  From that point, measure a distance on that line that is a multiple of 3 such as 30'.  From that same point, measure out approx. perpendicular a distance that is that same multiple of 4, or 40'.  From those two marks, measure the multiple of 5, 50', and adjust the angle of the second leg (40') until the 50' and 40' marks align.  That creates a square corner.

    To level the structure, use a transit or level (tripod style).  You could use a water level, and possibly a string level, but with less accuracy and greater effort.
