  1. who ever informed you that a liner would cost $2,100.00 is trying to rip you off. I purchased a house about 4 years ago and installed a fireplace insert. In order to bring it to code I purchased a flexible stainless steel chimney liner 6 X 25 kit for approx $500.00 (compared prices and types in the internet prior to making a purchase). The installation was easy and only took me 1 hour to complete.

So to answer your question, I would tell you to start by having the chimney cleaned and then search the internet for the size and length of liner you need. If you are unable to do the install yourself just hire someone and have them do all the work for you. After all is done you would have saved over $1,000.00.
