Wood and Willett enjoying the BMW International Open, Garcia, Langer and Kaymer suffer!
The BMW International Open witnessed Danny Willett and Chris Wood outshining the rest of the golfers with their deadly precision play. The duo has been in the headlines after their debut 4 years ago.
It has been a delight watching the combo of Willett and Wood giving the best at the International Open. They have been technically inclined and are moving on with the same quality of play that they have been depicting thus far.
On the other hand, Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia has been a disappointment at the BMW International Open. His weak swings and poor stroke play got him a bad finish at T29.
The self-proclaimed success, the 54-year-old Bernhard Langer had the same score as Garcia and landed on an average performer’s list at the International Open.
Local favourite Martin Kaymer was easily the biggest disappointment at the BMW International Open. He missed cut early in the competition and left the crowd hopeless as their favourite golfer left the tournament earlier than expected.
It was a few weeks earlier when Garcia was heard admitting that he is still good without a major win. However, his tone gave a different feel. He seemed a little agitated with the media questioning him about a missing major victory and it was evident.
"If I don't have a major, what can I do, I'm not going to take my life because I don't win a major. Fortunately I have a lot of other things that maybe some of those guys who have won majors don't have,” said the Spanish golfer.
He was in a mode where he clearly mentioned that a major win is not that important for him to prove himself as a successful golfer.
“Many things, many friends, many other hobbies that make me happy, so you know, some guys need to win a major, some guys don't,” said Garcia.
Now that he has flunked, big time, at the BMW International Open, a European Tour victory is another issue just as a major win.
Wood and Willett are striving ahead in the International Open, with impressive form and are most likely to win the title.
“It's always nice to put yourself in contention - nothing beats it really,” said Wood.
