Wood and heat (including the muggy-like conditions)?

I have to take my acoustic guitar with me to a different city tomorrow at the peak of the high heat. It's about an hour -hour and a half- drive and I heard from somewhere that the heat and muggy like conditions can damage the guitar.

How hot is too hot and what precautions should I take to keep my guitar in tip top shape?

  1. The guys have given some good advice. Don't plan on stopping anywhere on your trip and keep the air conditioner on.

  2. I have always heard if your comfortable then your Guitar will be also ;))))

  3. Follow these guidelines and you should be OK:

Don't get it wet (this includes wiping off the sweat after you play it).

Don't leave it in the sun to bake.

Don't EVER leave it in a closed car that's parked in the heat, especially in the trunk.

Keep it in a good padded case in temperature you can stand yourself.  If you can't stand it, chances are your guitar can't either.
