Wood cupping.....?

Is their anyway I can flatten a piece of 1x10 pine that has cupped? Should I kerf it on the back and put weight on it or what?

  1. if it's not too badly cupped, you can try spray soaking the  cupped side with warm water. place it cupped side down on a hard flat surface and weight it down with bricks, books, etc.

    let it dry a couple of days.

  2. I don't know the application but if you're going to use it on a flat surface, I would use some kind of c-clamps and draw it down and nail or s***w it in place.  If its severe, scrap it and start over.

  3. You can rip it down the center. Then you reverse the board. Glue it back together. Start at one end clamp it back together. You will have to force it down as you go along. If you have enough clamps try using them every foot or so.
