Last night my 10 gallon fish tank popped sometime during the night on a 5ft by 20 ft section on oak wood flooring. Water has been sitting on the floor for a few hours as far as I know. Im not sure exactly what type of wood flooring it is other than it does not like getting wet and drying is even worse. And Oh yea...its a rental. Is there anything I can put on it to lessen the damage? Wax? Polish? Anything? Help?

  1. Drying out asap. It may take some time to get the moisture totally out of the floor. Get fans and blow air over the floor to hasten the process. I am sorry but some of the finishes are water based and this really fouls them up. To go forward after the drying you may be able to just refinish over what is left and have a reasonable result. Get the fans running and go talk to a flooring company for the recommended finishes.

  2. borrow a wet vac suck it up, do it 2 or 3 times/

  3. Definately dry it up best you can. Put fans in the room to dry the floor. Just let it breathe. You can try polishing it.
