I am a goalie and I own both types of these sticks. I prefer the TPS composite sticks. What do some other fellow goalies like?

  1. I like the stiffness, and feel of a wooden goalie stick over any of the composites I have tried. Most of the composites flex too much for me, making controlling rebounds more difficult.

  2. I use a Sherwood 9950 Iron Carbon (26" Lalime), can't get used to composite sticks. Not when in goal anyway. My all time favourite goalstick is a Heaton 10 (26" Brodeur) but I have been playing long enough that my first one was a Cooper

  3. I have always used wood, but i work in a proshop and recently tried my first composite... hated it. has since been given away. i felt like there wasnt any feel to the puck when stopping it or playing it.  The high end composites are much lighter but i dont know many goalies who think the wood is too heavy( im never nursing a tired forearm)  to me, wood sticks seem to be the best for those reasons. Oh and, $200+ for a good comp and $70 ish for wood...

  4. Glad I'm not the only lover of the old Heaton10/CCM 10; a great stick, great weight...

A classic case of fixing something that was perfect.

  5. Well, I'd say solid wood because its lighter and more sturdy but composite is a bit cheaper and a little heavier. It's really all in your personal preference. Some people like to go with carbon fiber but me not so much. Overall, it's mostly like the more you pay the better it's going to be. Solid wood is in sort of the middle price/quality wise. Which ever floats your boat!

  6. agree with you! i love compostite sticks but i like how light the wooden sticks are.

  7. i prefer the weight of a wood stick

  8. Composite goal sticks didn't exist when I played I always used a wood/fiberglass stick. I will have to make it a point to check one out.
