i live in a downstairs apartment, and the upstairs apartment has wooden floors.they are not very loud, and generally great neighbours, but when the girls wear heels or they play music at normal levels, its shocking for me! i hear every footstep and song! i dont want to cause a stir, so i want to see if theres any laws that could make the landlord put carpet or a big rug upstairs? just that would help when i talk to the real estate about it. plus it affects my asthma and its killing me! thanks for any help guys, links to law pages or cases would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Well it depends where you live; in some places like NY the law says that a carpert must be instaled.

  2. It's the fault of the building, not your neighbors. They have the right to live normally. I would complain to the landlord. If nothing can be done then it may be grounds to break your lease. Moving may be your best option.
