Wooden gate post?

Over time my wooden gate post has worked it's self loose from the brick wall. What would be the best way to fix the post back to the wall? It's not the post that holds the gate.

Instead of taking the chance of cracking bricks of mortar, it would be better to place brace in ground with concrete and fasten post to brace to set in place.  It is easier to change post if damaged or twisted and it won't damage house more to replace it.

remove the existing fittings and re drill the holes lower down, use some rawl plugs and s***w it all tight again
