Wooden shoe from germany?

I have a wooden shoe from germany, it is dated either 1902 or 1904 it has detailed engraving in wood. the craftsmans name is on the back of the shoe with date, does anyone no how i could get any info.

  2. While wooden shoes generally come from Holland, not Germany, there is a significant common border in the northwest of Germany,and some watery cities.  So it is conceivable that the technology traveled to Germany.  

    I agree that an antiques expert is your best bet.

  4. Contrary to popular belief, including me until I asked, wooden shoes were popular in the farming areas of southern Germany. Trees were plentiful and a shoemaker could make a pair in short time. They were just "work shoes", nothing more. I learned this from a friend of mine when I asked about all the pictures of concentration camp prisoners wearing wooden shoes.

    Perhaps you could do a search of the name on the back and get more info, but YES wooden shoes did come from parts of Geramny also.
