Treated wood fences last long time mine is mine is 12 years old and still look as good as new.  I have two types one is made 1 X 4 X 8 cut in half that I dog eared on top one is the other one is made from  1 X 2 X 8 cut in half.  The 1 X 2 I cut them to a point on top.  Installing buy treated post 12 feet long and have Home depot to cut in 6 foot length for you.  I also bought toppers for each post at about $3.00 each.  They were cheap to build you can do it.
