Woolston Ferry likely to stand first in Dormansland Handicap at Lingfield
Woolston Ferry is expected to unchain the shackles and register his first win of the season at Lingfield on Wednesday, May 16th. The 6-year-old will unleash his talent in the class-5 Dormansland Handicap, set to get
underway at 16:30 GMT.
The 1-mile event has attracted a dozen entries. Among the confirmed participants are: Woolston Ferry, Idol Deputy, Cyflymder, Moral Issue, Striker Torres, Salient, Indian Violet, Archelao, Catalyze, Isingy Red, Blue Deer and
Cativo Cavallino.
Woolston Ferry is not in winning mood these days, but the bookmakers are likely to give him the highest starting price today. In his last appearance at this venue, he performed decently, finishing fourth in the lingfieldpark.co.uk
Handicap (Div I).
Under Fergus Sweeney, he missed the third place only by half a length. After staying out of action for almost four months, Henry Candy’s trainee is once again in search of a win.
It will be Woolston Ferry’s debut trip for the new yard and everyone is expecting him to start the proceedings on a winning note.
Idol Deputy is a last-time-out winner. After presenting a lacklustre show at Lingfield in January, the 6-year-old picked up the winning momentum, when ran at Wolverhampton the following month.
Play Blackjack At bluesq.com Handicap saw him beating the 4-1 joint favourite, Warden Bond, by three lengths. He does not have an impressive track record at Lingfield, but still his class is hard to overlook.
Cyflymder was runner-up in his last appearance at Musselburgh. David C Griffiths’ trainee missed the top place by a few lengths in the Scottish Racing Best Bet Apprentice Handicap earlier this month. The six-year-old has a good
record at Lingfield, as he clinched two back to back wins earlier this year.
Striker Torres was not impressive last time out, but did a great job in his penultimate outing at Pontefract. "Highly Commended" Pontefract Loyalty Card Handicap (Div II) saw him finishing second by one and a quarter lengths.
According to our calculations, Cyflymder is going to give a lot of hard time to Woolston Ferry. The latter is certainly in better shape, but Cyflymder’s wonderful track record is hard to ignore. Good luck to everyone.
