Wor Hacka upsets Droopys Gianni in 480m Grade A1 Heat at Newcastle on Jan 25
A 480 metre long Grade A1 Heat saw, Wor Hacka upsetting the favourite, Droopys Gianni at Newcastle on Wednesday, January 25, 2012.
With a cash prize of £118, the competition started off at 13:58 (local time). Ahead of the heat, Droopys Gianni, who was the race favourite with the starting price of 7 to 4, was the centre of attention.
However, Wor Hacka, trained by G T Gibbinson, entertained the audience more than anyone. The black hound reached the winning post in 29.06 seconds, 2 ¾ lengths before the runners-up.
Hondo Black’s son out of Coquet Breeze was carrying the winning chances of 2 to 1, as he commenced the proceedings from the second stall.
The champion was followed by Any Plans, the black dog with the odds of 4 to 1. J. Wright’s trainee could not challenge the winner, but defeated the favourite by a couple of lengths.
After setting off his run from the sixth stall, the son of Droopys Kewell out of Killough Belles, took just 29.28 seconds to finish the party.
The third place went to the most favourite hound, Droopys Gianni. After going slowly away, Blackstone Gene’s son out of Droopys Sporty ran on, but failed to defy the top-2. It took him 29.44 seconds to arrive at the post.
The fourth position belonged to Denwill Prince, who clocked the area in 29.50 seconds. His starting price of 4 to 1 was equal to Any Plans’ odds, however, the white and black dog could not deliver.
The fifth and sixth position respectively went to Take Me Home, and Skywalker Organa, the two least favourite hounds in the contest.
Take me Home, whose starting price was 6 to 1, made it to the final point in 29.60 seconds.
The back marker, Skywalker Organa’s finishing time was 29.88 seconds. J. J. Fenwick’s trainee, holding the odds of 12 to 1, had a clear run, but her speed was not good enough to challenge the rest.
After finishing fifth in his previous outing, Wor Hacka has made a good comeback. This victory will help him get a better starting price in the forthcoming heats.
