Worcester Massachusetts?

Question

I'm looking at Atlantic Union College in South Lancaster Massachusetts, and I'm looking to live in Bancroft Commons, in Worcester Massachusetts, and I was just curious if anyone is familiar with either of the locations, and if they are suitible for college students. I'm also wondering if anyone knows anything about the apartments. Any help would be great.

Worcester is ghetto. But the college areas are safer than downtown.

Have to say I agree with the other answerer, Worcester is a ghetto, although the college area may be better but I doubt it, it is a c**p shoot....Maybe try Amherst College instead, its a nicer area, near everything you need without all the B & E's and its a great school.  Good Luck!

The people who used to be my parents neighbors in Worcester said that they used to live at Bancroft Commons...honestly this is going to sound scary but they said they were robbed at gunpoint there! Scary stuff. Although that was their experience, just make sure wherever you live to be safe.  My advice is to live another place, worcester is tough because it has good areas and bad...anyplace close to downtown I dont suggest to move to- just alot of crime and bad people....I would look at the greendale/burncoat area- it is relatively cheap and pretty safe. hope that helps and good luck with college.
