Worcester Warriors lose their prop Ceri Jones to a shoulder injury – Rugby News
2011/12 Aviva Premiership new entrants, Worcester Warriors', premiership and European campaign sustained a major blow as their first choice prop, Ceri Jones, was sidelined from action for a
considerable period of time. Officials at the club have confirmed the injury to their front row forwards player on Saturday, October 22.
The 34-year-old Jones joined Worcester Warriors during the off-season from the English premiership side, Harlequins. He sustained an injury to the shoulder during Warriors pre-season training
sessions. Later at the start of the 2011/12 season he returned to fitness to make his debut for Warriors against the Saracens during the month of September. He continuously participated in the games, which has further aggravated his shoulder injury. Two weeks
ago, in Warriors encounter against the London Irish, Jones broke down again.
Worcester Warriors head coach, Richard Hill has expressed his disappointment on his front row forwards player’s injury. He said, “We are all disappointed for Ceri after he was first injured
on our pre-season camp in Geneva. We all wish him well with his rehabilitation.” He added that it is important that he should undergo surgery to start his recovery from the injury.
Hill praised Jones performance in the opening few games of the season for the Premiership's latest entrants and added, “Ceri will be missed.”
Hill has expressed his confidence that Warriors have enough front row forwards options that they can effectively run their campaign in the Jones absence.  He added that the surgery and the
subsequent rehabilitation will sideline Jones from the action for next 2 – 3 months. However, he has expressed his satisfaction that Matt Mullan will be able to fill the void left by the Jones absence.
Hill further added, “His absence will also open the door for George Porter, who has impressed us all since his arrival from Plymouth Albion in the summer and I'm sure will want to take this
opportunity for more senior rugby.”
Newport born Jones is a Welsh international Rugby Union player. He made his international debut for Wales in 2007. He made approximately 139 appearances for Harlequins before joining the Warriors.
