When I write a letter using the contemporary letter template, it prints out with a globe water mark and various shaded areas. Please could someone give me detailed advice on how to delete these bits.

  1. I have Word XP (2002), and I'm not familiar with those templates, but this should get rid of the watermark:

    1. Click the Format->Background->Printed Watermark menu item.

    2. Click the No Watermark radio button.

    3. Click OK.

    If you want to save the template without the watermark, do this:

    1. Do a File->Save As.

    2. Give your new template a name.

    3. Select Document Template from the Save as Type list box.  The directory should change.  Be careful, because any other files saved during this Word session will probably tend to go here also.

    4. Click OK.

    Hope that helps.

  2. There should be a plain template somewhere, because there is one in the 2000 version as well as several others depending on the layout you want.

  3. Just click your mouse on them and hit delete.

  4. When in the Templates  ON MY COMPUTER, Try Elegant template or Professional Template.
