  1. 15

  2. 16 lessons

  3. 240/15= 16

    ------------

    150-10

      75- 5

    _______

    225-15

      15- 1

    equals 16

  4. Well, you could see how many times you could subtract $15 from $240, but that would be the long way.  Since repeated subtraction is the same as division, you simply divide 240 by 15.

    The answer is 16.

This assumes that Elena earns no interest on her savings.  She should get a different bank, but that would be a much harder problem.

  5. 240 divided by 15(each week) = 16 lessons, or 15 (weeks) X 16 lessons = 240

  6. She can afford 18 lessons.
