Word problem any help would be appreciated?

Four apples are in a basket. How do you divide them among 5 girls so that each girl gets an apple, but one apple remains in the basket?

I am pretty sure this famous riddle is actually five apples in a basket.

The answer would be, hand out 4 apples, the last girl to get an apple gets the apple in the basket.

umm well it couldnt be a whole so you would split the apple up and i would say each girl gets 4/6 of an apple i think by the way i am in 7th grade how old r u? well wat grade r u in?
