Wordpress pages....?

Question

I know this is probably a stupid question but i just got a wordpress and i really dont know what the pages are for. There are categories and pages and I dont understand the difference between them. Could someone tell me what to use them for?

Pages are just for Static content. As far as wordpress is concerned, it "draws" them the same as a post page.

Most templates have a menu bar that look for parent, or first level pages and give you a couple but toneto click. Some have drop down menus that show "children" of these pages. And of course, you always can use the "Page" widget to show a tree/map of your site.

If you look at my site, you'll see "100 parks in 100 miles" in the menu bar. This was originally a post, but it was so popular I copied it to a page so it would always be available on my site.

So Basically, if you have something you wantt always available, like a link page, contact info or products, use a page. Else, it goes into a post and once it moves from yuor home page, it's gone unless searched for.

Could you explain more in detail? Which buttons don't you know?
