If you have any questions about birds\parrots - ask Parrotgirl or me. Parrotgirl is really great with birds\parrots. She has a badge too. Haha.

Thanks everybody who will take the time and answer.

((((Best of Luck))))

  1. Hi! I have had parakeets (budgies) in the past, and have taught them many verses. I taught mine to cough, say pretty bird, say here kitty, and a LOT MORE! Just repeat one simple verse to the bird and after a couple months or so it will say those verses! Good luck!

  2. Pretty Boy, the bird's name Sprite, Hello or Hi, happy bird, Hi (whatever your name is), dirty bird, good boy/girl, I love you, feed me, I even taught my budgie to say happy birthday and this is ridiculous!  Good luck!

  3. Say the word quickly and in a really high pitched voice over and over. While you say it, act as happy as you do when you're praising your bird. After a while you'll see the bird making attempts to say the word. Its really cute. You guys can also play the mimicking game in which your bird makes a noise and you repeat it. It wont take long before your bird catches on and it'll start repeating sounds you make. I do it with my bird and use it as the perfect opportunity to get my bird to copy what i say.

Fancy tricks and all, birds will sometimes repeat whatever they want to repeat. Mine learned the word 'Papa' (food) by mistake because of me saying it every time I gave her her food. Now she says Papa whenever she's hungry and she'll say it when I put food in front of her lol. She also learned to say 'MMMMM!' by mistake as well. I said it every time she drank or ate something so now she'll repeat me after I say it.

Moral of the story?: Repetition is key. My baby is going to be a year old in August and ive had her for 9 months. It took her about 7 months before she said papa and then started making the mmm sound shortly after.

It shouldnt take more than a few months for yours to learn, although of course, some words are harder than others. 'Hi' should be an easy one. It'll probably start by just making the I sound and keep going from there.

Good luck! Sorry for writing so much =/

Oh and PS, Cute choice of name lol
