The words I love you, come to mind >  sometime after the marriage gets stale, they certainly don't have much meaning any more.

Words do not lose their meaning.  They become trite or passe when overused.

Here's something I found online for you:

In its annual compilation of language irritants, Lake Superior State University singled out 17 words and phrases that it says ought to be banned as overused, trite, euphemistic or just plain inaccurate.
