how many words per minute is the "AVERAGE" in a typing test?? Can I pass with 40 wpm???

  1. Looks like you should pass.

    "... our statistically "average" typist is between 38 and 40 WPM."

    According to two different typing web sites, 40 wpm is a basic minimum standard and is an average testing score.

    According to another reference site, 50 - 70 is typical of an average typist (but doesn't mention "testing" scores).  I've put links to all sites below.

  2. I'm pretty sure around 50 is average...at least thats what we had to have to pass a typing class I took.

  3. Thats fine.. your speed of 40 wpm actually falls under the average "fast" category. Many guys who use comps often is 55 to 70. Typists can do 80 or even 100 words a minute. I think you could try improving your speed to 50. But yes, even in your present speed you are faster than most people in the world. But among people who do typing often its not that fast, try to increase the speed to about 50 or above for now. I can type 62 wpm and others can type much faster too ;-)
