Words to teach a parakeet?

Are there words that are easier to teach a parakeet? Im about to get one and i was wondering what words i should try to teach it....what words are easier for them to learn? and what would be something cute for it to say?!

well a good word would be his name for starters you can do that by first repeating  over and over again what you want him to learn and encoage him when he does something right. wile ur not teaching him its good to put a mirror in his cage so he has something to make noises with

* When you get your one take your time with it pick out 1 word like it's name repeat it's name over many times like "Hello Tommy" it will soon learn to that word then go to another one.  just watch what you say they will pick up cuss words quicker than other words. Ours did.

teach it words that you use as you use them. for instance when you feed him say "snack time" or "foooood!" and when you turn out the lights say "bedtime!" or "goodnight". talk to him with familier sentances when hes being cuddley say "i love you" eventually if you are consitant and relate words to actions he will say the words when i he sees or does the action. teach him his name also. as a tip, male parrakeets are more liley to talk, females most likley wont talk. the colour doesnt matter. if you can, buy from a local breeder rather than a petstore because it will cost less and be healtheyer. i recomend the website  www.repticzone.com its the best forum around. you should go there for information on any animal that you could possibley own. sign up on the froum and enjoy.
