  1. You file taxes in the state you live in (IL), neighboring states have reciperocal agreements and pay each other all the time witholdings.  You need to file a W4 to start working in MO, the W2 will come to your house when its time (Jan 2009).  The forms you file depend on your situation and income types.  If you are single and don't own a house then 1040 EZ, otherwise you will probably file 1040 like most everyone.

The form itself will guide you through the process

I'd reccomend buying a tax software like TaxCut or TurboTax in Feb/March next year and just use that.  I started doing that back in 1998 and it will lead you through the whole process, you don't have to be an expert or anything.  It will do all the dependents and incomes and credits and such and even get into earned income credits and such for lower income folks.  Takes a very low power computer to run (mine is 5 years old) and you can install it on someone else's computer if you need and take it off later.  It can even send your return electronically so you don't have any paper at all.....eco!

Last ditch is to see someone like  H&R block, but your situation is probably so simple that you can do it with paper or a computer in less than 1 hr

I have 2 kids, one other dependent, wife, house, 2 cars, investments, stock options and a buch of other complicated stuff and it only takes me 2 hours to do both federal and state....computer makes it easy
