Work Visa to Japan do they take your passport

Hello

I applied for a visa yesterday to work in japan.

I gave them the certificate of eligibility and passport and form.

I'm just having a bit of a freak out now because i cant remember if they gave me my passport back or if they kept it.If they gave it back then I should be looking for it.

Anyway has anyone gone through this process and can they remember if they got their passport back when they collected (or got sent) their visa .or did they hand it back on the day of application.

Its goona play on my mind otherwise

~Thanks

  1. If you gave it to you employer or agent then need not worry they will return it after the visa is processed and your air ticket is booked so that you can travel.

If you went to the embasy by yourself then i sugest you go there once again and ask abt ur passport just to be on the safe-side.

  2. They actually print the visa information into your passport.  It has been awhile since I did that but I believe they keep your passport for several weeks and you either have to pick it up or they can mail it to you.  If you are worried about it, I would recommend calling the Japanese consulate or embassy where you went and asking about it.
