Work and sickness, will i get the sack?

I havent been into work since the 18.08.08 (monday just gone) I dont feel too well and i have sickness and diarreah.

I want to get back into work for this Thursday but am worried.

I got a bollocking about how some other guy is off and i should be in.

Whats the deal? can i get sacked for being ill?

No you shouldn't get sacked but incase you do you can report the company for unfair dismisal.
